Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has started off a series of virtual meetings at administrative level following the Prime Minister’s call for energy conservation. In this connection, she held a detailed review on Friday through video conferencing with national capital’s Divisional Commissioner, all the District Magistrates (DMs) and senior officials from different departments.

Rekha Gupta directed all the government officials to effectively implement the different measures undertaken by the Delhi government in line with PM’s appeals. She asked all the officials to hold maximum government meetings online so that fuel, time, and resources could be saved.

The chief minister directed all departments to take effective steps to reduce electricity consumption, adopt energy-saving practices across offices and develop a responsible administrative work culture. She asked them to ensure at least a 20 per cent reduction in fuel expenses on official vehicles, stressing the need to prioritise the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative.

She said that the officers and employees should use Metro and other public transport modes at least once a week so that a positive message could reache the public.
Along with this, directions were issued to effectively implement ‘No Vehicle Day’ once a week.

During the meeting, Gupta instructed the officials to conduct regular inspections in their respective areas, adding that Atal Canteens, Arogya Mandirs, fire department offices and other public utility centres should be regularly monitored and arrangements should be properly maintained and improved at these places.
The CM also reviewed monsoons preparedness and directed officials to identify waterlogging-prone areas and take the necessary actions in advance. “No drains should remain open in any area and dangerous trees should be removed immediately so that people do not face difficulties during the rains,” she said.

The officials were also instructed to speed up work related to PNG connections in their areas and provide necessary assistance to the public.
The CM said all officials should regularly share information related to works being carried out and corrective measures taken in their respective areas through social media so that people receive transparent information about government functioning.
