The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that the disqualification of his party’s 20 MLAs on charges of holding “office of profit” is a “political vandetta” against it.

Addressing a function here, Kejriwal claimed that the “only office of profit” his legislators hold was “to work for the welfare of the people”.

“The profit my MLAs were earning after being assigned this post was to conduct inspection of schools, mohalla clinics, ration depots to make sure that the students and people of Delhi were not facing any inconvenience,” Kejriwal said sarcastically.

Kejriwal charged that after “exhausting” all means to pull down the AAP government, the BJP-led central government has now disqualified its 20 legislators only to “halt” the developmental work in the national capital.

“Now soon model code of conduct will be imposed under which no work can take place in these 20 assembly constituencies. After that Lok Sabha elections are coming and again under model code of conduct, all developmental work will be stopped,” he said, adding “it is wrong”.

Kejriwal said political parties should not indulge in a kind of politics that would make common people suffer.

The CM said his government has many developmental plans for Delhi for its remaining two years and that they would leave “no stone unturned” to complete all its projects.

“We are going to install CCTVs across the city. The free Wifi will be made available very soon. We will fulfill all our promises that we have made to people in the elections,” he said.
