Dhenkanal health dept takes special MR campaign in remote areas

Successful MR vaccination campaigns launched in Odisha.


The District health administration has taken special initiative and communication strategies to ensure Measles- Rubela Campaign (MR) in inaccessible areas.

The campaign has been appreciated by state and central government authorities, said Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Basudev Behera at a press conference here.

CDMO Dr Behera disclosed Health administration continues to expedite MR campaign and administer MR dose to children aged 9 months to 15 year child.

Till now, 95 .3 percent of target child population has been covered. Of 2,92 757 target children, 2,78,880 children have been covered.

The remaining 13,877 children to be covered in a week, he informed. In reply to questions, CDMO told they had conducted special awareness meeting of district representatives of the different religious organisation to dispel their doubts and sought their cooperation in the ongoing MR Campaign.

Recently they had organised a special camp for differently able children and administered MR dose as directed by district Collector.

As many as 4800 staff have been engaged to make delivery of the MR dose from door to door.

Twelve Planning block and urban units are also delivering the services and most of the people covered through interpersonal communication strategies.

Health authorities disclosed State and govt of India have appreciated MR drive in very innovative way in Dhenkanal.
