People from Delhi’s rural belt, led by Palam 360 Khap Chief Surender Solanki, on Saturday felicitated Rajya Sabha MPs Dr Alka Gurjar and Dr Satish Poonia at the revered Dada Dev Temple Satsang Bhavan in South West Delhi’s historic Palam village.

Residents from across Delhi’s 360 villages, representatives of social organisations, public representatives, and other distinguished members of the rural community gathered on the occasion to honour the two Rajya Sabha MPs.

The Palam 360 Chief, along with village leaders, held detailed discussions with the parliamentarians on the development of Delhi’s rural areas, farmers’ welfare, and the issues faced by villages in the national capital, which they said had suffered neglect in the past.

Addressing the gathering, Solanki said that both Dr Alka Gurjar and Dr. Satish Poonia come from farming families and therefore understand the problems of rural society well.

He expressed confidence that, as parliamentarians, both leaders would strongly raise the issues of Delhi’s farmers, villages, and rural residents in Parliament and play a key role in ensuring that the government fulfils its promises.

Speaking on the occasion, Poonia said that Solanki had apprised him of the various problems faced by Delhi’s rural areas and farmers.

He assured the gathering that these issues would be forcefully raised with the Central government and at appropriate forums, and that every possible effort would be made to resolve them.

He also said that the people of Delhi’s villages had supported the formation of the BJP government and highlighted Solanki’s significant role in mobilising rural support.

Dr Alka Gurjar said that she would live up to the trust reposed in the BJP by the people of Delhi’s rural belt and would work with full dedication to expedite development in village areas.

Meanwhile, Najafgarh MLA Neelam Krishan Pehalwan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been continuously working to bring women to the forefront of leadership. She added that Dr. Alka Gurjar’s induction into the Rajya Sabha had enhanced women’s representation and boosted their morale.

Among those present on the occasion were prominent public representatives and social workers, including Chaudhary Naresh Pradhan (Lado Sarai-96), Chaudhary Dhara Singh Pradhan (Bawana), Chaudhary Ranbir Khatri Pradhan (Narela-17), Vedpal Maan Pradhan (Kheda Jat Rana-9), Suresh Shaukeen Pradhan (Nangloi), Ravinder Solanki (District President, Mehrauli), and several others.
