Delhi’s Malviya Nagar fire yet to be doused, firefighting operations on

Firefighters in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar are still trying to douse the major fire, which broke out in a rubber factory on Tuesday.

According to media reports, a call about the fire was received around 6 pm on Tuesday and 35 fire tenders were rushed to the factory to bring the blaze under control.

The operation to douse the fire is likely to continue for a few more hours on Wednesday.

An official of the fire department has said while the fire is under control now, it will take 3-4 more hours to completely douse the flames. Reports suggest that 15 fire tenders are currently at the spot.

It has been reported that the blaze is of the highest category that Delhi has witnessed in recent times. According to the reports, the authorities have sought help from the Air Force to douse the fire and evacuate the area.

The fire spread to the nearby buildings, but no casualty has been reported so far.

People who live near the fire site have been evacuated. Air Force choppers were seen surveying the area early Wednesday morning.

A truck full of rubber sheets, parked near the godown, suddenly caught fire on Tuesday. It spread to the godown in no time.
