The Delhi government hospital in Burari is soon to be upgraded with 55 new dialysis machines, providing a major boost to the city’s critical care facilities, according to senior officials from the health department.
The revelation came during a review meeting of the department on Tuesday, chaired by Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh.
Given the high population density in Burari and surrounding areas, officials termed the dialysis upgrade a significant step.
At the same meeting, the Health Minister was briefed on the status of affordable medicine centres across Delhi.
“Twenty-one Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras have already been made functional in Delhi government hospitals,” a statement said. All government-run hospitals in the capital are expected to have such stores by the end of this year, officials added.
Officials added that Burari Hospital will also receive support from the state’s AYUSH department to promote holistic wellness. To address mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression, a dedicated Mental and Wellness Centre—based on traditional Indian healing systems—will soon be established at the hospital.
This integrated centre will focus on preventive care and lifestyle disease management and will be launched as a pilot project. If successful, similar facilities will be rolled out in other government hospitals across Delhi, the statement noted.
Speaking at the meeting, Singh directed senior officials to ensure Ayushman Bharat cardholders do not face any difficulty during hospital admissions or health check-ups in Delhi government-empanelled facilities.
“We are working at a war footing level to upgrade and expand Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure. Every citizen must have access to quality treatment, whether it’s dialysis, diagnostics, or traditional wellness care,” said Singh.
