Praising Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on the Yamuna aarti organised at Sonia Vihar, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said all students of Delhi will be taught about Yamuna’s history, cleanliness, its importance and all the overall aspects.
Regarding the traffic jams leading up to Sonia Vihar Dhai Pushta,Sisodia said,”If the area turns nice to visit, access should be easy. So we will make Loni Mor till Shastri Park signal free. We will work on the nitty-gritty of the project, about the requirements such as red light, underpass, bridge, etc., as only signature bridge is not enough”.
Kapil Mishra unveiled the three-fold plan of Yamuna redevelopment.
He said in the next two years,a clean Yamuna will be seen everywhere which people will be able to visit and take a dip in.
“In the first phase, Geeta ghat will be beautified. The work has already started there for Nakshtra vatika, tulsi vatika and a medicinal plan which will be over in two months,” he said.
He said Yamuna river front development will also be completed.”Mr Sisodia has promised that no financial hurdles will be there and whatever amount is required, will be provided.
A 2 km belt will have all the facilities for boating students and a facility centre will also come up,” said Mishra.
He said the third aspect of the plan is Yamuna turnaround for which the government had a discussion with Union water resources minister Uma Bharti too.
“The Central government has earmarked Rs.20000 crore for Ganga project and we have requested Rs.5000 crore for Yamuna which we need in three years. She has agreed. Even if the finances get delayed, work will begin next year,” said Mishra.
