With the arrest of a 25 years old woman, a team of Amar Colony Police Station of Southeast Delhi has solved the sensational case of kidnapping of a two-month old infant boy and recovered the child unharmed.

The accused has been identified as Shweta, 25, a resident of Kotla Mubarakpur, South Delhi. During the interrogation, she made a shocking revelation saying that her father expired last month.

According to police, during the last funeral rites, she came to know that human sacrifice of an infant of the same gender could revive her father and bring him back to life.

She started searching for an infant boy in the area. She went to Safdarjung Hospital in the maternity ward and introduced herself as a worker of an NGO working for newly born children and mothers.

She met with the victim in the hospital and to win over her confidence, she started visiting the infant and his family. On November 10, she successfully managed to kidnap the infant boy.

The accused Sweta was previously involved in two cases of robbery and burglary.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East Delhi, Esha Pandey, said that the information about kidnapping of an infant was received at Amar Colony Police Station on November 10.

Accordingly, a case was registered and investigation was taken up. Sensing the gravity of the case, a dedicated team under the supervision of DCP Esha Pandey, and Additional DCP Surendra Choudhary, was constituted.

During the course of investigation, the victim informed that the kidnapper woman met them in Safdarjung Hospital and introduced herself as a member of an NGO working for Jachcha Bachcha Care.

She promised to provide free medicine and consultation to the mother and the child. She followed them up, even visited their house and on the incident day, by inducing the mother of the child to hand over the infant for outing, she took him with her.

However, the mother asked her 21 years old niece to accompany the lady while she was taking the child out of the home.

The kidnapper went to Neem Chowk, Garhi and took the infant in her Swift car with the victim’s niece Ritu. On the way, the kidnapper offered a cold drink to Ritu, due to which she fell unconscious.

Later, the kidnapper dumped Ritu in Ghaziabad, UP and fled away. When Ritu gained some consciousness, she informed her family about the kidnapping of the child.

A case was registered. Police traced the accused by tracking her vehicle through its registration number. Further legal action is being taken in the matter.
