New Delhi, 14 November:Veteran journalist R K Mukker passed away at his Sahibabad residence near here yesterday after prolonged illness. He was 88 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. The cremation took place last evening.Mukker started his journalistic career spanning nearly 60 years with the National Herald in Lucknow and later worked with the Indian Express and The Statesman in Delhi. He was editor of the now defunct Morning Echo, a tabloid of the Hindustan Times Group, and later editor of the Searchlight in Patna for many years. He was the founder editor of the Lokmat Times. He had a long association with the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in New Delhi where he taught journalism since the inception of the course.
A prayer meeting will be held on Saturday, 16 November, from 3 to 4 p m at his residence at 2/74 Sector V, Rajendra Nagar, Sahibabad. sns
