New Delhi, 24 July: With the arrest of two persons, the crime branch of Delhi police claimed to have busted a gang of cheaters.
The accused, Balwinder (37) and Sanjay Bhola (39), were arrested near Netaji Subhash Place at Pitampura in northwest Delhi.
Five passports stamped with fake Canadian visas and one fake Canadian visa sticker were recovered from their possession, police said.
According to additional commissioner of police, Mr Ravinder Yadav, the accused conspired to send people from Gujarat and Punjab to Canada by providing them fake visas.
The men were in contact with Cheema, a resident of Jalandhar, who sent 12 people to their office at Rani Bagh in northwest Delhi. Police said the men charged at least Rs 8 lakh for each visa, and collected also an advance amount.
They stamped fake visa stickers on the passports and demanded that the remaining amount be paid on the date of departure to Canada. "With the same modus-operandi they cheated some of the people of Gujarat," Yadav said. sns
