An 11-year-old son of a businessman kidnapped by two property dealers for Rs 1.5 crore ransom was rescued from Haryana’s Rewari district this morning. One of the accused has been arrested and identified as Harpal Singh Sodhi.
Harmeet(in sns photo), a Class 6 student, was rescued from inside a car parked near Rewari Railway Station in Haryana, police said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar, the boy was kidnapped from near his house in Rajendra Nagar in central Delhi yesterday evening, when he had gone to buy a mobile recharge coupon.
A Rs.1.5 crore ransom call was made around to the boy’s mother Jaswinder Kaur. Two more ransom calls were made later on, said police. "The parents immediately informed us. Ten teams were formed for investigation," said Alok Kumar.
On the basis of technical surveillance, the location of the ransom caller was established somewhere in Rajasthan. A team laid a trap and ransom caller Harpal Singh Sodhi, 42, a Rajasthan-based property dealer, was arrested late Saturday night.
