 Delhi Jal Board (DJB) today laid the foundation stone for providing and laying internal and peripheral sewer lines in Gandhi Vihar Resettlement colony in the presence of its chairperson and Chief Minister, Mrs Sheila Dikshit.
Congratulating the residents of Gandhi Vihar, Mrs Dikshit said, "The sewerage system will improve the lives of residents of this area considerably. In fact, Delhi has made immense progress in all spheres, be it infrastructure, power, roads, water supply, health and sanitation. The city has shown phenomenal development in the last 15 years."
Delhi Jal Board has taken up the scheme of providing the sewerage system in the  Re-settlement colony , Gandhi Vihar, in the Adarsh Nagar Assembly Constituency.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Debashree Mukherjee, CEO, DJB, said, "DJB is committed towards providing better water and wastewater facilities to the residents of Delhi. In line with our efforts to make Delhi a world class city, DJB has prepared the Sewerage Master Plan 2031. This will significantly reduce the level of sewerage pollution in the river Yamuna to improve the lives of people."
The project is likely to be completed in six months and will cost Rs.3.65 crore approx. The implementation of the project will benefit around 26,800 residents of the area.
