In spite of fixing the new rates, 54 parking sites in South Corporation are charging old rates in connivance with the concerned officers. Due to this, the Corporation is loosing Rs 60 lakh per month.
The matter was exposed in the meeting of remunerative projects (RP) cell of the corporation on Monday. Subsequently a high level inquiry was ordered into the matter.
The corporation had floated a fresh tender to allocate 54 parking sites in its area on revised rates in March this year. These parking sites, according to officers, were fetching around Rs 1 lakh per month and were allotted three years back but the corporation decided to allocate these sites for next three years on revised rates in March this year after the expiry of the period.
"The tenders were floated under new parking policy which required the highest bidder to deposit six months charge in advance and post dated cheques for next six months but in the tender documents the officers did not mention the second condition. However, in the offer letters to the winning contractors they demanded six months fee in advance and post dated cheques for next three months. The contractors are now using the ambiguity and running the parking sites on old rates," said Subhash Arya.
Wherein the RP cell chairman Mr Ashish Sood, said "The whole affair is in a mess with the connivance of some staff. I have ordered the additional commissioner to inquire the matter and present a report in the next meeting of the R P Cell scheduled to be held on Monday."
He also said that action must be taken against all the officers found involved in the conspiracy. The additional commissioner, in-charge of parking cell, Mr D N Singh has been asked to probe into the matter. According to sources, area inspector Dinesh Chauhan has been found prima-facie involved in the conspiracy among others.
