Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday termed South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) proposal under which its officials can not accompany MLAs for their area visit as "unconstitutional".
AAP MLA Gulab Singh on Tuesday moved a Calling Attention motion towards SDMC’s proposal under which its officials can not accompany MLAs during their area visit.
Participating in the discussion, Sisodia apprised the MLAs that SDMC has not issued any circular or notification in this regard and it is just proposal.
"I have spoken to the commissioner who told me that on November 20, this proposal was tabled in the Standing Committee of SDMC. It is just a proposal which will be opposed. It is unconstitutional," Sisodia said in the House.
We don’t want to make a line between officers of Delhi government and municipal corporations. Delhi government along with Centre and MCD have launched ‘Swachch Delhi Abhiyan’, he said, adding that we try to involve everyone whether he or she belongs to Delhi government or MCD.
Assembly Speaker Ramniwas Goel and other AAP MLAs opposed the SDMC’s proposal and said that the civic body should withdraw it immediately.
Participating in the discussion, Opposition leader in Assembly Vijender Gupta said that Delhi government should also invite municipal councillors for its programme so that both the city government and MCD can work together.
