New Delhi, 23 December
With the Aam Aadmi Party deciding to form the government in Delhi there is a lot of speculation about the ministerial probables.
While Arvind Kejriwal will be the Chief Minister, his trusted aide Manish Sisodia, engineer-turned-MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj and former Congressman Vinod Kumar Binny are tipped to be named Cabinet ministers.
The 41-year-old Sisodia is a former journalist who came to prominence in the Jan Lokpal movement. He defeated Nakul Bhardwaj of the BJP by 11,478 votes from the Patparganj constituency.
After defeating Ajay Kumar Malhotra, son of veteran BJP leader V K Malhotra, by 13,092 votes in Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bhardwaj is perceived as a giant-killer. An engineer, Bharadwaj also has a law degree.
Another name doing the rounds is that of Vinod Kumar Binny, who was in the Congress from 2009 to 2011 but left the party to join the Jan Lokpal movement. He defeated Delhi health minister A K Walia by 8,000 votes.
The women most likely to join the Kejriwal cabinet are Rakhi Birla and Bandana Kumari. The 26-year-old Rakhi might well become the youngest Cabinet Minster. While Rakhi holds a degree in journalism, 39-year-old Bandana is a well-known name among social activists working for the poor.
Both Rakhi and Bandana defeated BJP candidates by 10,585 votes and 10,000 votes in Mangolpuri and Shalimar Bagh constituencies respectively.
