SI, constable arrested for shooting wedding function

A man and woman sustained bullet injuries after a police constable shot at them after having an argument at a marriage ceremony in North East’s Khajoori Khas area.

A senior official informed that the constable, Naeem Khan, and an assistant sub-inspector Irthkab Alam had been arrested for attempt to murder and stripped of their ranks under Article 311.The injured, Manoj and Pooja Gupta, were hospitalised.

The incident happened at one Monu Gupta’s reception party organised in Varthika Vatika, a banquet hall in Khajoori Khas on Saturday. “Manoj, Pooja and the two accused policemen were present there. Constable Naeem Khan and Manoj who was taking photographs on the occasion somehow got involved in a brawl following which the constable took service pistol from Irthkab Alam and shot at Manoj.

He shot two bullets oneat Manoj and another in the air. The one he fired at Manoj grazed his hand and hit Pooja who was standing next to him, said Rajender Prasad Meena, Additional DCP.
