“The police also recovered two automatic carbines, 50 pistols and 19 magazines from them,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjeev Kumar Yadav.

In the first operation on Monday night, the team arrested Ajeem with 38 pistols when he came to deliver the consignment to his contact identified as Hazi Kayum in Sant Nagar, said the police officer.

“With two trolley bags, he waited for Kayum, but he did not turn up. He suspected he was trapped by the police team and started moving from there following which he was nabbed,” Yadav said.

“In another operation, a team arrested Aash with 12 sophisticated pistols and 19 magazines on Wednesday night from Singhola village at GT Karnal road,” said Yadav. “He was a key supplier of illegal arms to criminals and various gangs in NCR-Delhi,” he said.

“During interrogation, Ajeem disclosed that he worked with one Akil in West Bengal’s Malda. He had been supplying illegal arms to contacts of Akil in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana,” Yadav said.
