Medals for 21 Delhi Police personnel


A Sub-Inspector Kaushal Pandey who had saved lives of about 35,000 people will be awarded police medal with 20 others for meritorious service on the occasion of Independence Day. 

According to police, four police personnel have been awarded Police medal for Gallantry, one for President’s Police medal for distinguished service and 16 for meritorious service on this Independence Day, 2016. 

Kaushal joined Delhi Police as assistant Sub-Inspector executive in the year 1988. She was selected for performing duties in United Nation Mission for a period of two years in South Sudan. 

During her Mission period she was instrumental in saving lives of about 35,000 people who had taken shelter in the UN campus. She also sensitised people on Gender issues. She was awarded United Nations Medal for recognition of the duties and in the service of peace as an officer of the International Police component. 

On the other hand four police sub inspectors Krishan Kumar, assistant sub inspector Ajay Bir Singh, head constable Raj Kumar and head constable Umesh Kumar risked their lives and continuously exhibited exemplary courage, bravery and motivation in the above operation to apprehend the wanted desperate criminals without harming the lives of public persons and other team members. 

The brave action of Delhi Police won applause not only from the higher ranks of Police of the different states but also from the Public at large. Presently, all posted in the special cell have been awarded "Police medal for gallantry." 

Inspector Hridaya Bhushan joined Delhi Police as Sub Inspector in 1990. He was promoted out of turn to the rank of Inspector in the year 2003 for his vital role played in an encounter eliminating three interstate gangsters. He has been involved in 32 operations of encounter resulting in the elimination of over 45 militants and underworld interstate gangsters including 10 Pakistani terrorists and was twice awarded Police Medal for Gallantry. 

He has also been actively involved in the investigations into some of the most important cases of national importance, arresting several terrorists, thereby solving cases including attack on Indian Parliament, Red Fort shootout, consecutive terrorist attacks on Sena Bhawan, North Block, BSF Headquarters in Delhi, twin blasts in Liberty and Satyam cinema, serial Bomb blast in Delhi on September 2008, Jama Masjid terrorist attack case, German Bakery Blast, Chinnaswamy Stadium Blast, terrorist attack on Israeli diplomat in Delhi and the serial blasts in Pune in August, 2012. 

For his work he has been awarded police medal for meritorious service. Head constable Bala Nath, joined Delhi Police as constable executive in the year 1980. During his entire service he has earned 92 rewards. Sub Inspector Ramesh Kumar joined Delhi Police as constable in the year 1981. 

During his service he has been worked in various districts and units. He earned total 66 Commendation Cards, three Commendation Certificates, one Commendation Roll. At present he is posted in Traffic Unit and working with utmost devotion and sincerity. Both have performed duties with honesty, bravery, great zeal and devotion. He has unblemished record during his entire service.
