Man commits suicide by jumping in front of metro train in Delhi

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train arriving at a Delhi Metro station.

The deceased was identified as Ajitej Singh, 30, a resident of Satya Niketan, Delhi.

The incident reportedly occurred at the INA Metro station on Saturday evening at around 7.38 pm, the police said on Sunday.

The incident affected the metro service on the yellow line going towards Samaypur Badli for some time.

On receiving the information, a police team rushed to the spot and removed the body of the deceased from the tracks. They recovered a cell phone and some medicines along with two metro cards from the deceased.

The body was sent to AIIMS mortuary while the deceased’s family was informed about the incident by the police.

The incident captured on the CCTV camera at the platform-2 of the station shows a man jumping in front of the Metro train headed towards Samaypur Badli.

According to the police, the deceased was identified from an incoming call on his cell phone.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law in this connection while probe was underway to ascertain the reason behind Singh’s decision to take the extreme step, the police said.
