Kejriwal said, “Delhi is the only city in the country that offers 24-hour power supply to all its residents. However, there are some pockets within the city that neither get regular power supply nor regular water supply. In the case of power, the areas where local faults have been recognised and new transformers will immediately be installed there.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday led a ‘padyatra’ in the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency as part of his directive to his ministerial colleagues to hit the ground and resolve people’s problems directly across the national capital.

He was accompanied by local AAP MLA Somnath Bharti and others.

The CM interacted with the people, some of whom told him that due to local electrical faults they were experiencing power outages at times. Expressing concern, Kejriwal immediately directed the authorities concerned to install an adequate number of transformers in the area to prevent any further disruptions in the power supply.

Kejriwal said, “Delhi is the only city in the country that offers 24-hour power supply to all its residents. However, there are some pockets within the city that neither get regular power supply nor regular water supply. In the case of power, the areas where local faults have been recognised and new transformers will immediately be installed there.

“Certain parts of the city are facing issues related to the regular water supply. We have already laid down new pipelines in many of these colonies. Those colonies will begin to receive piped water supply within a week. They don’t have to rely on tankers anymore to meet their water needs,” said Kejriwal.

Referring to the Delhi government’s proposal for free Metro and bus rides for women, Kejriwal said, “The scheme would be rolled out within the next two to three months. I’ve asked each and every woman present here today and not a single woman I’ve met since morning has told me that she is not happy with the scheme of free travel in Metro and bus services for women.”

On the Central government’s insistence on implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi, Kejriwal pointed out, “According to the Ayushman Bharat scheme, if you have a refrigerator, a 2-wheeler or a TV you are not considered poor and hence you cannot avail the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. But does that mean that if someone owns one or two of these things is not a poor person? Is it necessary that a 2-wheeler owner can also afford healthcare for all his family members? Our scheme, on the other hand, provides full treatment absolutely free of cost for all the residents of Delhi and it has been functioning very effectively for the past two years.”
