New Delhi, 20 September
Fluctuation in dollar versus rupee rates is affecting travel agents hard as people have bared themselves from going abroad for holidays.
People who were planning foreign trips 10 days ago had postponed their trips, because dollar was increasing without any halt, but now after US Federal Reserve’s move on Thursday, the value of rupee increased which is 62 per dollar.
Many travel companies believe that it has affected their business. Deepak Kumar, manager of Belair Travel & Cargo Pvt Ltd, at Barakhamba road said, "Strengthening of rupee has obviously affected us. Ten days ago there were seats available, but now people have to wait as there are no seats."
Lucky from D Paul Tours and Travels at Lajpat Nagar said, "May be due to September month in which few people travel. But as the value of dollar is decreasing, we are expecting a huge demand in October."  Though the dollar value has decreased much from 69 to 62,  people are still waiting for more relief. Sanjeev from Bhraman Tours & Travels said, "We are doing business mainly for business class people."
