The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) on Sunday held a demonstration against the BJP led Central government and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi government regarding the worsening power and water situation at Chhattarpur.

Addressing the demonstrators, DPCC president Ajay Maken, said that the Kejriwal government was fully responsible for the frequent power cuts and severe water shortage in Delhi as the AAP government had not worked out any summer action plan to address these perennial problems.

" The power companies were pulling out all the tricks and applying various strategies to increase the power tariff in Delhi, but the Kejriwal Government was keeping a deadly silence on the matter," said Maken.

He said the Kejriwal government should have taken prompt steps to ensure 24-hour power supply in Delhi, but the AAP government has let down the people, and put Delhi’ites in terrible discomfort with temperatures soaring every day.

Delhi Congress President further said that Kejriwal had come to power on the basis of the promises he made to the people of giving power at concessional rates, and water free of cost, but at the beginning of the onset of summer, the power and water supply have gone haywire with regular power cuts and terrible water shortage harassing the people.

"Even though the AAP Government has completed 100 days in power in Delhi but there are terrible crises of Power and Water in the South Delhi area including Chhattarpur Assembly.

People living in un-authorized colonies are being subjected to power cuts for hours together and they are not getting water for days together," ex-MP Sajjan Kumar said adding that the power tariff from Monday will inflict a heavy burden on the people of Delhi.
