Delhi University attracts students from north-east

New Delhi, 2 July: The good academic environment and better infrastructure are attracting scores of students from all over the country especially from north-east to Delhi University’s undergraduate programme. The newly introduced courses in DU colleges like English (Hons), B Tech and Journalism are attracting lots of students, though the newly introduced four year undergraduate programme (FYUP) has been opposed by many. There is also a strong demand to increase the number of seats in different streams in DU. Students coming from the north-east find DU very alluring for their career as universities in their respective state are lacking infrastructure. "The infrastructure and academic environment in Manipur is not as good as in DU, therefore I have to come to Delhi for my higher studies," said Gayle, a student from Manipur who is also planning to complete her masters in law from DU. Many students who come here from every corner of the country think that DU provides a campus selection and also provide better opportunities in getting high profile jobs.                                    sns
