A team of Gujarat Police, hunting for self-styled godman, Asaram Bapu’s son Narayan Sai, against whom two sisters have registered a case of sexual assault in Surat, today raided his ashrams in the Capital with the assistance of Delhi Police.
Gujarat Police registered a case at Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad, after two sisters approached them accusing Asaram and his son Narayan Sai of sexually assaulting them over a period of time.
According to Delhi Police sources, while intercepting Sai’s cell phone locations, the investigating sleuths traced it somewhere to Delhi after which a team was dispatched to the Capital today.
After the Gujarat police arrived in the Capital, immediately they were joined by the Delhi Police’s crime branch which raided Sai’s possible hideouts in Najafgarh, Rohini, Jaffarpur Kalan and Ridge Road. However, Sai was not found anywhere.
Sources said Delhi Police have raided Sai’s farmhouses in Najafgarh and multi-storey residential complexes in Rohini and adjacent areas. There are strong apprehensions that he may have slipped into Haryana from south west Delhi.
Sources said Sai has been frequently switching his SIM card and cell phone after he learned that a dedicated team, comprising senior Gujarat cops, is hunting for him.
As senior police officers remained tight lipped over the raids, sources said Sai has so far changed around 17 SIM cards and cell phones which has left the cops clueless.
In their complaint to the police, the sisters alleged that the elder sister had been sexually assaulted by Asaram Bapu for nine years between 1997 and 2006 at his ashram, while the younger sister has accused Sai, of sexually assaulting her between 2002 and 2005 at the Surat ashram.
Initially, the case was lodged in Surat’s Jehangirpura police station, which was later transferred to Chandkheda police station in Ahmedabad.  Sai has already filed a plea for anticipatory bail in a court in Surat.
