New Delhi, 24 July: Blaming the three corporations, north, south and east, the Delhi PWD Minister Mr Raj Kumar Chauhan today stated that the corporations are not at all cooperating in keeping city clean which could even result in outbreak of an epidemic.
"Their reluctance in allowing dumping of silt taken out by PWD in their landfill sites may result in break-out of an epidemic causing loss of lives of poor and under-privileged people putting up in JJ clusters and rehabilitation colonies," said Mr Chauhan. He also said the corporations have been claiming that their dumping sites are only for their works which means they are avoiding basic responsibility of keeping Delhi clean.
"The accumulation of taken out silt from the drains on roads may attract mosquitoes which can lead to diseases like dengue, malaria and other air-borne diseases," stated Mr Chauhan. Mr Chauhan said despite refusal by one of the corporations, the PWD completed dumping of total 5,47,198 metric tonnes silt taken out from the drains. sns
