In view of the increasing power demand, private power distribution company BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) will set up the first gas insulated system- based grid at Meethapur in South Delhi.
Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf laid the foundation stone for construction of Rs 50 crore GIS grid which would benefit around 70,000 consumers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Yusuf said, “This grid would fulfil the long-standing demand of the residents of this densely-populated area.”
This is going to be the 81st grid in BRPL area of South and West Delhi, “The present power load of the area is 152 MVA and is growing at 9 per cent per annum. After the commissioning of this Grid, the distribution capacity in the area will increase by 50 MVA – an increase of 32 percent. It will adequately take care of the future requirements of the area,” said discom&’s spokesperson.
 It will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore and benefit around 70,000 consumers in areas like Lakhpat Colony, Gagan Vihar, Ekta Vihar, Harsh Vihar, Meethapur Village, Jaitpur Extension (Part 1 and 2) and Hari Nagar Extension.
“To cater to the ever growing power demand, BRPL is continuing to ramp-up its infrastructure and adding new capacity to its network. In the last one-year, we have added 255 MVA to our network in South and West Delhi”, added Mr Gopal Saxena, CEO, BRPL.
