Opposition leader Vijender Gupta was marshalled out of Delhi Assembly on Monday while three other BJP legislators staged a walkout to register their protest after their request for a discussion on “water crisis” in the city was turned down.

As the House proceedings began, Opposition members showed bottles of contaminated water allegedly being supplied in various areas of Delhi. Gupta, and two other BJP MLAs, O P Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan, trooped into the Well of the House demanding discussion on alleged water crisis in the city.

Gupta and Sharma went near the chair of Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, showing him bottles of contaminated water. As Gupta turned the mike, the Speaker got angry and ordered him to be marshalled out of the House.

The Speaker also suspended Gupta from the House proceedings for the day. To register their protest, other BJP MLAs also walked out of the House.

Vijender Gupta alleged that on the instructions of Delhi Jal Board chairperson and CM Kejriwal, he was denied the right to take up the burning problem of Delhiites.

He said, “It is regretful that since the session started on March 16, the Government did not think it important to devote even one to the water crises. It is sad that the same government spends days and hours in discussing issues not related to the government.”
