In view of the spurt in the number of instances of cyber
crime in the city, Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC), Delhi
Police decided to reach out to school children and spread awareness against
cyber crime.

Police said, they have started a ‘Go to School Initiative’ –
‘Protecting children on the internet’. In collaboration with Deloitte,an
audio-visual training material for schoolchildren was prepared. Ten teams of
Delhi Police officers were constituted each headed by a Sub-Inspector from
North-East for this campaign.

“These teams were trained by experts to enhance their
oratory skills.Campaign was done to sensitise children about various Do’s and
Don’ts to be observed while using the internet,” police said. Police
claimed that in a month-long initiative since 2 November they have covered 290
schools of Delhi (Government and Private Schools) in which 1,83,469 students
were sensitised through lectures as well as presentation in the schools.
