New Delhi, 11 October: About 175 exhibitors from 25 countries are likely to take part in the three-day SmartCards Expo 2013 which is starting from October 16 here, organisers said today.
The exhibition, to be organised at Pragati Maidan here, will have special focus on smart card technology and applications, Electronics Today which is holding the event said in a statement.
The organisers expect over 6,000 visitors, national and international, to attend the exposition over the three day period.
Last year 125 exhibitors, including 60 from overseas, had attended the annual event which saw footfall of over 4,000.
Smart card technology now proliferated into multiple large projects.
Apart from SIM card for mobile phones, the government has launched a number of large socio-economic projects, including driving licence and vehicle registration and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, based on smart card in recent years.
A number of financial and banking applications are also being introduced on smart card. The SmartCards Expo has been hailed by many Industry Experts as the harbinger of SmartCard technology and its applications in India, Electronics Today said. PTI
