In a move to address safety concerns and improve the quality of life in the rural pockets of the national capital, Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Friday inaugurated newly installed mast lights across several villages in Delhi.
With active participation from local residents, the streetlights have been installed in the villages of Punjab Khor, Jat Khor, Qutubgarh, Bajitpur Thakran, Nangal Thakran and Dariyapur, according to an official statement.
Speaking at the inaugural event, the minister urged villagers to take an active role in maintaining cleanliness and beautification efforts so that the villages remain not only well-lit but also clean and aesthetically appealing.
The official note mentioned that residents welcomed the installation of the light posts, which are expected to enhance safety and security while also benefiting local athletes by allowing them to practice in village playgrounds during evening hours.
Meanwhile, the minister also inspected several ghats across Delhi on Friday including Bharat Vihar Ghat in Begumpur, Panch Mandir Ghat in Shahbad Dairy and Pansali Ghat in Rohini to review ongoing preparations for Chhath Puja celebrations in the capital.
