Delhi’s Industries Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday announced the registration and constitution of the Delhi Traders Welfare Board, while also reviewing ongoing projects related to the city’s industrial infrastructure, environmental management, and business facilitation.

Sirsa chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officers of the Industries Department and DSIIDC. The discussions covered Operation and Maintenance tenders for pending industrial zones; development updates for industrial estates such as Patparganj, Baprolla, Ranikhera, and Kanjhawala; the status of the Freehold Policy; progress on the e-waste plant; and preparations for the upcoming Global Industrial Investor Summit.

“The registration of the Delhi Traders Welfare Board marks a significant leap towards institutionalising welfare measures for trader communities in the national capital,” the minister said.

“Under the proactive guidance of CM Rekha Gupta, this initiative reaffirms the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring ease of doing business, social security, and inclusive economic progress,” Sirsa added.

The board will serve as a formal mechanism to address the issues and concerns of more than eight lakh traders across the capital, acting as a direct link between the trading community and the state government.

Sirsa further said that it is the Chief Minister’s firm resolve that every section contributing to the city’s economy should be empowered and supported, adding that the government is leaving no stone unturned to translate this commitment into on-ground results.

According to the minister, the newly formed Delhi Traders Welfare Board will focus on strengthening communication between the GNCTD and the trading community. It will recommend measures to reduce compliance burdens and improve ease of doing business, in addition to identifying welfare and policy priorities for traders and their employees.

The board will also work toward creating a Traders Welfare Fund to provide social security and financial support, and will organise skill-development, capacity-building, and mentoring programmes.

Sirsa informed that a comprehensive range of benefits and incentives will be introduced to empower traders, including access to advisory services, mentorship, and global exposure through participation in international trade fairs and exhibitions.

Emphasising the broader agenda, Sirsa said that the Delhi government is implementing an ambitious plan to make the national capital a world-class city and a model state, driven by transparency, innovation, and growth. “From our Start-up and Warehousing Policies to the creation of Special Innovation Zones and modern industrial estates — every step brings us closer to that vision,” he said.

During the meeting, officials updated the minister on the progress of the Delhi Single Window System, designed to provide over 400 business services online across 80 categories to ensure seamless, paperless governance and facilitate ease of doing business.

Sirsa directed officials to ensure the timely completion of key projects, including the implementation of the Freehold Policy, preparations for the Global Industrial Investor Summit, and the operational readiness of all industrial zones. He also stressed strict monitoring to ensure transparency, efficiency, and industry participation in all ongoing development works.
