Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said the government is gearing up for the upcoming Chhath Puja, stating this time the celebrations will be historic.

She said the government is making elaborate arrangements to ensure the festivities happen smoothly with the Purvanchali community getting all the support to perform the rituals without any inconvenience.

The government, the Chief Minister said, will develop ghats along the Yamuna river and take utmost care of cleanliness in view of the festivities.

“Detailed planning and preparations are being done this year to ensure there are no obstacles during the festivities. Arrangements are being made by every department concerned to make sure the festivities this year are grand,” she said while talking to reporters here. “Our government will also coordinate with the Purvanchali community to make the Chhath Puja festival a huge success.”

Gupta had recently expressed joy over the festive atmosphere prevailing in the city amid the ongoing Navratri festivities, Ramleela, Garba celebrations and the South Indian flower festival, Bathukamma.

The national capital had never seen such a lively and beautiful atmosphere before, the Chief Minister had mentioned earlier.
