Teachers in Delhi are set to receive hands-on training to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools into their classrooms, helping them personalise learning and create more effective, meaningful assessments through the use of technology.
The initiative aims to equip teachers with innovative teaching methods, enabling them to better prepare students for a future driven by digital learning, as per the circular issued on Friday by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi.
The circular further said that the training is part of the ‘AI-Mediated Classroom Project,’ a special initiative aimed at equipping teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to effectively integrate AI into education.
The SCERT has announced that they will roll out the program in two phases. In the first phase, 100 computer science teachers from 50 government schools will undergo a two-day capacity-building training. These trained teachers will then serve as Resource Persons (RPs) for their respective schools.
The second phase will involve school-level training for subject teachers of mathematics, science, English, Hindi, and social science who teach students in Classes 6 and 9.
According to the circular, each selected school will choose three teachers from each of the five subjects, with a total of 15 teachers per school set to undergo the training.
The SCERT stated that the project aligns with the vision of creating future-ready classrooms and encouraging the integration of AI in school education.
The department noted that the initiative aims to empower teachers to embrace innovative teaching methods, boost classroom engagement, and improve learning outcomes through the use of AI-driven practices.
The SCERT added that the Directorate of Education has identified and recommended 50 government schools across Delhi for the project and has also selected 100 teachers to participate.
