To spread awareness against drug abuse, the Delhi Police, in collaboration with ‘Bhagidari Jan Sahyog Samiti’, organised a three-day programme – Drug Free Delhi by 2027 – here.

The event that started on 28th August, 2025 witnessed enthusiastic participation from thousands of college students from Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states, an official release said.

The performances and presentations at the event highlighted themes of drug awareness, social responsibility, and women empowerment. Speaking on the occasion, Devesh Chandra Srivastava, IPS, Special CP (Crime), Delhi Police, emphasized the need for responsible parenting and focus on five key areas of public safety and security – cyber security, traffic rules, drug awareness, crimes against women and children, and responsibility towards the elderly.

Drug abuse is not a mere law-and-order challenge but a grave threat to our families, society, and the future of our youth. What begins with curiosity or peer pressure often ends in addiction, disease, and destruction, he said.

Drugs fuel crime and organized networks that exploit the younger generation.

“The true strength of our nation lies in its youth. If this energy is wasted in drugs, the nation suffers. The Delhi Police have therefore resolved to pursue a dual strategy – strict enforcement against traffickers and continuous awareness among society,” the officer said.

The afternoon session of the event, it said, was dedicated to National Teacher’s Day celebration and award ceremony.

A painting exhibition, showcasing artworks prepared by youth during the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada 2025’, with themes on drug prevention, was also organised.

Students, teachers, and dignitaries visited the exhibition and appreciated the creativity.

India has a zero tolerance policy against narcotic drugs, which is vigorously pursued by the Delhi Police, it added.

“The Delhi Police remains fully committed to making the capital a drug-free city through strict enforcement, preventive measures, and strong community engagement,” the document added.
