Delhi Police SWAT commandos secure top spot in NSG-led counter-terror firing drill

SWAT Commandos of the Delhi Police secured first place in the firing category during the prestigious Clusterised Joint Counter Terrorism Training (CJCTT) Exercise organized by the National Security Guard (NSG) at its Training Centre in Gurugram’s Manesar, officials said on Thursday.

Held from August 25 to September 6, the exercise brought together eight commando teams from both Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and State Police Forces. Participants included BSF, CISF, SSB, and forces of the state like Jammu & Kashmir Police, UP ATS, Chandigarh, Haryana, Delhi Police.

The SWAT team from the Delhi Police, comprising three HIT units (18 commandos) under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar, outshone all teams in the firing competition.

“The exercise tested combatants in real-time scenarios, including day-night firing, house and vehicle interventions, IED handling, and hostage rescue missions,” Aalap Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell).

The CJCTT is part of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ initiative to strengthen counter-terror capabilities across the country through joint training and standardization of tactical response, the officer said.

To recognize their outstanding performance, the Delhi Police Commissioner and Special Commissioner (Special Cell) felicitated the SWAT commandos and their supervisory officers.
