Delhi Police hold awareness campaign on cyber security & digital fraud


The Delhi Police’s public relations branch in a joint effort with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), and other units of the force organized a city-wide public outreach on Cyber Security and Digital Fraud Awareness, simultaneously across all the police districts of the national capital.

The initiative emphasized educating citizens about the importance of protecting themselves against the possible cyber threats, and to create a safer and more secure online environment through various activities.

I4C and IFSO experts also remained present at the venues where the campaigns were held to address the cyber safety related queries of the public.

Delhi Police chief Sanjay Arora launched the initiative from the force headquarters in presence of special commissioner Anil Shukla, Joint CP Rajneesh Gupta, and Public Relations Officer (PRO) Additional Commissioner Sanjay Tyagi.

Arora, in a bid to promote the campaign, also unveiled the campaign mascot ‘Cyber Rakshak,’ with an aim to bring together citizens in the fight against cybercrime and digital vulnerabilities.

The core idea behind the initiative is to communicate the message of cyber awareness to a large number of audiences through a coordinated campaign, especially reaching out to those who are more vulnerable to such threats.

During the campaign, the awareness on cyber safety was  conveyed through activities including, Nukkad Nataks on Digital Scams, Display of Short Films on large screens.

Live demonstrations on scams styles like Phishing, OTP & Loan Scams, Sextortion, Fake Job and KYC Frauds, Digital Arrest Frauds were displayed by the concerned teams.

Special ‘Jansampark Vahan’ (public communication vehicle) of the city police’s PR division was involved in the exercise to reach out to the public.

Informative material for public awareness and one-on-one interaction was distributed by the district police at different places to extend the reach of the program.

The campaign was meticulously planned and the venues with high footfall were chosen to spread the message among as many people as possible, which included areas like Palika Bazaar, Connaught Place, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, Maharaja Surajmal Institute, Janakpuri, CCRT Auditorium, Sector-7, Dwarka Sub- city, OMAXE Mall, Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh Metro Station’s surrounding area, City Centre Mall, Sector-10, Rohini and several other places that witness high footfall across the city.

All the district Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) coordinated along with the IFSO, and nodal officers from the PRO division for the various campaign activities under the supervision  Ranjay Atrishya, the APRO of Delhi Police.
