The Delhi Police observed International Women’s Day 2026 holding a series of awareness programmes, outreach initiatives, and community engagement activities across all its districts and units across the national capital.
Several events were organized in the run-up to, and on the occasion of the day to promote women’s safety awareness, and community participation to encourage women empowerment.
The key activities included self-defence training sessions, lectures on “Good Touch & Bad Touch”, interaction sessions on cyber and social media awareness, health check-up camps, women’s scooty rally, felicitation programmes, and women safety, along with legal awareness programmes.
Talking of the North- West district, a self-defence training session was organized at GGS School, Adarsh Nagar to empower students with essential safety skills. The students were taught simple and effective techniques to protect themselves and respond confidently in challenging situations. The session focused on building confidence, awareness, and personal safety, encouraging students to remain alert and fearless.
In the Outer district, a programme was organized in collaboration with Pahal NGO at Mahila Park, Sector-18, Rohini to promote women empowerment and awareness about safety and legal rights. Police officials interacted with local women and highlighted various women safety initiatives of the Delhi Police, cyber safety awareness, and the importance of reporting crimes through available help linesIn Rohini a women safety meeting programme was organized in Prashant Vihar area where lectures on “Good Touch & Bad Touch” were also delivered to sensitize students about personal safety.
Coming to South district, several programmes were conducted across the district including self-defence sessions at more than six locations. During these sessions, women were sensitized about personal safety, cyber awareness, and emergency response measures. Self-defence training programmes were conducted at Govt. Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya A-Block Vikas Puri, Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya B-Block Janakpuri, and SPM College Punjabi Bagh, that fall under the West District.A special celebration programme was organized in association with Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, Punjabi Bagh to recognize the invaluable contribution of women in society and promote awareness regarding women empowerment and safety.
In a felicitation programme held at DCP Office, East District, 26 women police personnel were honoured for their dedication and exemplary service, while four women from the public were felicitated for their contribution to social welfare activities. A foot march was organized from Vidyadeep Public School to Abhinandan Vatika, Karawal Nagar in the North East District with participation of hundreds of students, while essay writing and poster competitions were also conducted as part of the celebrations.
In the New Delhi District, a special celebration programme was organized in association with YWCA of Delhi, Women Training Institute, Bangla Sahib Lane to recognize the contribution of women in society and promote awareness regarding women empowerment and safety. Women police officials from the Parivartan Cell of New Delhi District participated in the programme, highlighting the growing leadership role of women in policing. A special road safety awareness and engagement programme was organized by the Traffic Unit at the Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, which was aimed to promote road safety awareness among women through interactive and engaging activities.Participants included personnel from Delhi Traffic Police, college students, and teachers from various educational institutions.
