Delhi Police have dismantled a large-scale racket involved in the manufacture and sale of counterfeit automobile spare parts and engine oil, arresting five individuals and seizing fake products worth over ₹10 lakh on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference, Harsh Indora, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said, “The racket operated from two locations—Karol Bagh and Madanpur Dabas—where counterfeit products bearing trademarks of reputed brands like Honda, TVS, and ASK were being manufactured and stored.”

Acting on intelligence inputs about the illegal trade, the police conducted coordinated raids, which were subsequently verified in collaboration with legal representatives of the affected automobile companies, DCP Indora added.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Copyright Act at the Crime Branch police station.

“Large quantities of duplicate engine oil bottles, packaging materials, branding stickers, and machinery used for sealing and packaging were recovered during the raids,” the officer said.

The prime accused, identified as Shubham Panjiyar (29), a resident of Uttam Nagar, was previously involved in a similar case in Nihal Vihar. During interrogation, Panjiyar admitted to running the illegal operation since 2020 and led the police to his co-accused, who were subsequently arrested.

The other accused have been identified as Himanshu Kawatara, a trader from Karol Bagh; Naveen alias Deepak Taneja, Panjiyar’s brother-in-law; Ramakant Chaurasiya, a supplier of counterfeit bottles; and Shyam Narayan, who provided fake packaging materials.

“The police have recovered hundreds of fake items, including over 7,000 counterfeit cap foils and 2,850 bottle caps marked with the Honda logo, more than 3,400 TVS-branded caps, nearly 2,800 empty bottles, 1,400 brake shoes bearing the ASK mark, and a bottle cap sealing machine used in the illicit operations,” DCP Indora said.
