Conducting an extensive inspection of sanitation arrangements and development works in the Karol Bagh Zone, Delhi Mayor Pravesh Wahi on Monday directed officials concerned to ensure that sanitation standards are enhanced to the highest level and emphasised that any kind of negligence or laxity would not be tolerated.
Area Councillor Manish Chadha, Deputy Commissioner of Karol Bagh Zone Dilkhush Meena, and other senior officials were present during the inspection.
“Despite the intense summer heat, the Mayor has been regularly visiting different parts of Delhi to strengthen sanitation arrangements and accelerate development works across the capital,” the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said.
During the inspection, the Mayor closely reviewed the sanitation arrangements in the Chuna Mandi area located on Rajguru Road.
He appealed to local shopkeepers to cooperate with the Corporation in maintaining cleanliness and to ensure that garbage is disposed of in designated dustbins instead of being thrown on the streets.
The Mayor also interacted with local residents and assured them that their complaints and suggestions would be addressed promptly.
On this occasion, Wahi picked up garbage lying on the road and disposed of it in a dustbin, conveying a strong message of cleanliness and civic responsibility to the public. He also joined sanitation workers in sweeping the area.
The Mayor stated that public participation is essential for building a clean Delhi and that every citizen must fulfill their responsibility towards maintaining cleanliness.
He instructed officials to maintain regular monitoring and ensure prompt action wherever required.
As part of the inspection, the Mayor also visited the Panchkuian Road Crematorium and reviewed the progress of the under-construction CNG platform and other development works there. He directed officials to complete the works within the stipulated timeline while maintaining quality standards.
Additionally, the Mayor inspected the Panchkuian Road Fixed Compactor Transfer Station and reviewed the existing arrangements there. He stated that the Corporation is continuously taking necessary steps to make Delhi’s sanitation system more effective, modern, and mechanized.
He informed that various modern machines, including mechanical sweepers and litter pickers, are being added to the Corporation’s fleet to further strengthen sanitation services.
The Mayor said the Municipal Corporation is continuously working towards making Delhi a clean, beautiful, and modern capital city, and with active public participation, this goal can be achieved more effectively.
Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for greater use of public transport, Wahi travelled by Metro to the inspection site and arrived at R K Ashram Metro Station on Monday.
Supporting Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s ‘Metro Monday’ campaign, he travelled by Metro along with his staff members.
The Mayor stated that greater use of public transport would not only help reduce pollution but would also make a significant contribution towards strengthening the nation’s energy security.
