The Delhi Police have recovered lower portion of a girl’s decomposed body from the forests in outer Delhi’s Mundka area.

The police said on Thursday the body had been found on October 14.

According to reports, the lower portion of the body is highly decomposed and the police suspect it was dumped 15-20 days back in the jungles adjacent to the peripheral road connecting Mundka and Gurgaon.

A skull has been found too, but the police said it would be difficult to identify the girl since the upper portion of the body was missing.

The police suspect that animals must have eaten up the body. They are scanning through the profiles of missing girls and trying to identify the deceased.

The police have registered a murder case and an investigation is under way.

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) took cognisance of the case and issued a notice to the Commissioner of Delhi Police.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted about the gruesome crime and alleged that the girl had been raped before being murdered. However, there has been no confirmation from mthe police regarding it yet.
