In the wake of the recent terror blasts at the Red Fort, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has issued a series of directives to the Police Commissioner and the Chief Secretary, mandating immediate precautionary and preventive measures.

In written communications, the L-G has instructed the police to maintain a digital record of all entities purchasing or selling ammonium nitrate beyond a specified threshold, including photographs of buyers and sellers.

The police have also been directed to hold consultations with heads of social media platforms such as Meta and X for the scientific tracking of radicalized content.

Additional directives include strengthening both human and technical intelligence in vulnerable areas and enhancing community outreach to enable more robust preventive policing.

Simultaneously, the city administration has been asked to create a central data repository containing records of doctors and paramedical staff employed by hospitals, with a focus on verifying their medical degrees.

For professionals with foreign qualifications, this information is to be shared with the police for background checks.

The administration has also been instructed to consult digital platforms and financiers involved in vehicle sales to enforce a strict ban on vehicles operating with drivers or users other than the registered owner, a problem notably acute with auto-rickshaws.
