The Delhi government on Saturday convened a Tourism Stakeholders Conference themed “Delhi: From Transit Hub to Destination,” bringing together key players to chart the future of the Capital’s visitor economy.

The day-long conference – described as the most comprehensive industry consultation so far – saw participation from over 200 leaders across government, industry, heritage, hospitality, wellness, digital platforms, and media.

It resulted in the first set of formal stakeholder commitments and policy inputs for the upcoming Delhi Master Tourism Policy 2026–2047.

The event was attended by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Tourism Minister and Chairman of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) Kapil Mishra, and Managing Director of DTTDC Suneel Anchipaka, along with senior representatives from the central and Delhi governments and partner organisations.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, “Delhi has always shaped culture, never followed it. Delhi is for all. Through this conference, and through structured partnerships and forward-looking policy, we are bringing Delhi closer to the world. This is a city-level expression of Viksit Bharat, where public and private institutions move together toward a common goal.”

Kapil Mishra described the conference as a foundational step toward repositioning Delhi as a global destination. “Delhi has long welcomed the world without actively marketing itself. Today, with all stakeholders in one room, we are correcting that. Tourism must serve both visitors and citizens, and this is how we begin preparing Delhi for 2047,” he said.

A key outcome of the conference was the signing of four Memoranda of Understanding by DTTDC with Agoda, MakeMyTrip, the MakeMyTrip Foundation, and the Sabhyata Foundation. These agreements aim to enhance Delhi’s global digital visibility, integrate heritage assets into the tourism ecosystem, and upgrade on-ground infrastructure.

The conference also featured six thematic roundtable sessions led by senior officials and industry experts. According to Suneel Anchipaka, the discussions and agreements reflect an outcome-driven approach with defined deliverables, joint working groups, and structured review mechanisms.

He added that recommendations from the roundtables will directly feed into the formulation of the Delhi Master Tourism Policy 2026
