Delhi Health Minister opens MAMC centre to boost future-ready healthcare

In a bid to make the healthcare sector future-ready, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh inaugurated a Medical Innovation Centre (MIC) at Maulana Azad Medical College on Friday.

Calling the opening of the facility a landmark step for public health, Singh said that it will significantly support doctors, professors, researchers, and medical students in addressing multiple healthcare challenges using modern healthcare technology.

The minister added that the healthcare sector today is undergoing a transformative phase, driven by digital health technologies, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering and medical innovation, and MAMC will facilitate this transition. Through innovation, collaboration, and research, the innovation centre will aid in the development of new vaccines, diagnostics, integrated data and information systems, and control viral diseases, he noted.

Speaking at the inaugural about the scope of the centre, the minister said, “It has been designed in a manner that will play a pivotal role in making Delhi the Health-Tech Capital of India. Our government aims to establish a “Delhi Model of Medical Innovation”.

During his visit to the Medical College in the national capital, the minister also unveiled a three-day medical conference, MedTechX, starting from Friday. The event was attended by Dr Munisha Agarwal, MAMC Dean, Dr Savita Mishra, MIC Director, Dr Anurag Mishra, LNJP Hospital Director, among other medical professionals.
