Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Tuesday said that the government led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta in the national capital is committed to providing the women’s allowance, and that beneficiaries will begin receiving it soon.
Sachdeva stated that within just nine months of coming to power, the BJP-led government has earned significant credibility in Delhi by taking commendable steps such as waiving surcharges on water bills, providing GST refunds, introducing new DTC buses, improving the Pink Ticket scheme, constructing Arogya Mandirs, and increasing the number of old-age assistance pensions.
The BJP leader informed that the committee formed for this purpose is working swiftly, and that the rules for availing the women’s allowance will be announced soon.
Sachdeva claimed that the women of the national capital are confident that they will soon start receiving the allowance as well.
Responding to the Delhi Congress chief’s statement on Tuesday, Sachdeva said that the grand old party has become irrelevant in the politics of both the national capital and the country.
He said that the Delhi Congress chief calling the BJP’s promise of women’s allowance a “joke” during a press conference was merely an attempt to appear relevant, but it would not benefit the party in the elections.
Hitting out at the Congress, the BJP leader claimed that for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections, the grand old party’s entire campaign is limited to press conferences, adding that most of its candidates are not even visible at the ward level.
According to Sachdeva, women in Delhi know very well that the BJP is committed to providing the allowance as promised.
“Making Mrs Rekha Gupta the Chief Minister and fielding women candidates in eight out of 12 wards in the current by-elections is proof of this,” Sachdeva stated.
Meanwhile, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav alleged that the BJP has not fulfilled any of the promises it made before the Assembly elections, including the ₹2,500 monthly allowance for Delhi’s women.
