Delhi social welfare minister Rajendra Pal Gautam on Monday shared the success stories of students who qualified under “Jai Bhim Mukhyemantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana”, which was launched in December 2017.

An official of the Delhi government said, “The purpose of this scheme is to provide free pre-coaching for Scheduled Caste (SC) students for preparing themselves for various examinations conducted by UPSC, DSSSB, SSC, Railway Recruitment Board and other examinations of officers grade conducted by banks and insurance companies and for preparing for pre-examination for medical and engineering education.”

About 4953 students have enrolled for the coaching facilities to various courses so far out of the proposed target of 5000 students in a year under this meritorious scheme following its launch last year, said the official.

“Out of total 107 students, nearly 35 students have qualified the JEE main and NEET exam during 2018-19. From these 35 students, 13 students got qualified in JEE main and 22 students qualified NEET examination. Till date, 4 students have got admission in IIT Delhi, NSUT Delhi, NIT Delhi and BAMS, BHU,” the official added.

All these students come from a low-income family group which could not afford high coaching fees levied by the private coaching institutes.

SSC examination results are awaited in which a total of 3280 students took coaching in various institutes under the scheme.

Based on these early success stories of students, the scheme will be further enhanced to increase the amount from Rs 40,000 to Rs 1.50 lakh and to increase the duration of the coaching. More reputed institutes would be roped in under the scheme.
