On the birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday dedicated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to the nation.

Joining the programme virtually, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said expressway, built at a cost of around Rs 12,000 crore, would mark a significant milestone in the national capital’s development and give a new momentum to the ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision. She thanked the PM for spearheading multiple projects aligned with the growing needs of the national capital.

Gupta said Delhi’s transformation under PM Modi’s leadership is visible in the rapid expansion of infrastructure. She noted that projects worth nearly Rs 1.25 lakh crore are currently underway in the capital under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
She described the occasion as special and auspicious, the day also being the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the chief architect of India’s constitution.

Gupta called the new expressway a vital link that connects Delhi’s modern infrastructure with the spiritual ethos of Uttarakhand often referred to as Devbhoomi, adding, “It is a true confluence of development and faith.”
The expressway is expected to reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from around 6-7 hours to just 2-2.5 hours.

Emphasising ground-level approach, the Chief Minister said her government is committed to resolving citizens’ issues efficiently, claiming that the city continues to make steady progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure and will be further strengthened through upcoming policies and projects.
