Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday emphasised the pivotal role of women in shaping the nation and society, adding that if a daughter from an ordinary household can rise to the office of CM, then any woman can achieve the sky she dreams of.
Gupta, who was speaking at an event held at the Yamuna’s Vasudev Ghat on recital of the “Mahishasura Mardini Stotram,” said that women need to take steps forward with determination and confidence and achieve their goals.
The CM encouraged women to rise above their personal struggles and recognise their responsibilities, not only towards their families, but towards the nation as well.
Gupta called upon all the women present, saying that society and the nation need their strength today more than ever, and urged them to come forward, embody the spirit of Goddess Durga, define their roles with confidence, and contribute actively to nation-building.
Thousands of women gathered along the sacred riverbank to chant the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram, and through their collective recitation, sent out a clear message that no terrorist, extremist, or anti-national force attempting to intimidate the national capital can ever succeed in frightening either the city or the nation.
CM Gupta appreciated the efforts by the organisers and expressed confidence that the day is not far when the Yamuna will once again flow freely and in pristine form throughout the river’s journey across the national capital and beyond.
Speaking on the occasion, Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture and Languages Kapil Mishra said that under CM Gupta’s leadership, Delhi has witnessed unprecedented cultural celebrations, be it Teej festivities, Navratri Garba, Diwali, Chhath Puja, or this recital of the Mahishasura Mardini Stotram.
He claimed that such an event had never been seen or heard of in the history of Delhi.
Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra was present on the occasion as a special guest.
