Two days after torrential rains left parts of Delhi grappling with civic issues, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders Bansuri Swaraj, MP, and Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh visited Rajendra Nagar to assess the situation on the ground.
On Friday, Swaraj and Singh jointly inspected the area, which lies in the Central Delhi constituency, to review the condition of drains and assess ongoing monsoon preparedness efforts.
During the visit, Mayor Singh said the area was free of waterlogging and added that all departments concerned had been instructed to stay on high alert to avoid any inconvenience to residents.
Spotting potholes, Swaraj directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to speed up repair work across the constituency. She stressed the need for proactive governance and urged Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) staff to ramp up cleanliness and sanitation efforts to keep public spaces hygienic and well-maintained.
The party leaders were joined by local MLA, Umang Bajaj, and Councillor Arti Chawla, along with senior officials from the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for these checks.
After the inspection, Swaraj and Singh planted saplings at an MCD park in the constituency as part of an ongoing effort to promote environmental sustainability and green urban spaces.
