A delegation of the Delhi BJP on Tuesday met Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and submitted a complaint against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for the remarks he made during an election campaign in Assam where he compared the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to a snake.

In the complaint submitted to the Police chief, Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra and party MPs alleged that during the Assam election rally, the Congress president not only compared the BJP to a venomous snake but also attempted to incite religious sentiments of a particular community.

Since the Congress headquarters is located in Delhi, they urged the Delhi Police Commissioner to take cognizance of the speech, register an FIR, and initiate appropriate legal action.

The delegation included Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Members of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Advocate Sanket Gupta, and state unit Media Department head Praveen Shankar Kapoor.

The delegation alleged that the remarks of the grand old party’s president are an attempt to incite hatred and violence against the BJP, which is a clear violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in force in the election-bound state.

The Delhi BJP said that the Delhi Police Commissioner assured the party leaders of action to be taken in the matter based on investigation.
