The Delhi Legislative Assembly on Friday announced major upgrades to the House, including the installation of a 500 kW rooftop solar power plant and the launch of the E-Vidhan (Paperless Legislative Assembly) system — key steps toward integration of clean energy with digital governance.
According to an official document, Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will inaugurate both initiatives on Sunday.
As part of the programme, a trial run of the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) will be conducted inside the House, giving Members of the Legislative Assembly a live, hands-on experience of the digital platform ahead of its official rollout. The participation of all members in this digital drill will mark a collective and symbolic shift toward a fully paperless, efficient, and technology-driven legislative process.
With this twin launch, the Delhi Legislative Assembly positions itself among the first legislative bodies in the country to operate entirely on solar energy while also adopting a comprehensive digital framework in line with national governance reforms, the official statement said.
On Friday, MLA Vijender Gupta stated that the hands-on engagement has been carefully planned to ensure a smooth, informed, and confident transition to digital legislative procedures.
Aligned with the Central government’s flagship “Digital India” mission and the “One Nation, One Application” vision, the Delhi Legislative Assembly will fully transition to the NeVA platform beginning with the Monsoon Session on 4th August 2025. This shift marks a vital step toward transparent, environment-friendly, and time-efficient legislative functioning, eliminating dependency on paper-based processes.
